About
Following my studies in cross-media production and publishing, I worked as a freelance journalist, covering topics related to culture, politics, and art. As an audiovisual documentarian and project coordinator for the New York-based music label Ostinato Records, I participated in the Grammy-nominated project "Sweet as Broken Dates," a compilation of Somali music aiming to challenge global media perceptions of the country, which involved travels to Somaliland and Djibouti. Similar projects with Ostinato subsequently brought me to Sudan, Senegal, Chad, Cape Verde, Thailand and Uzbekistan. Since 2020, I have been working as a freelance consultant and multimedia content producer with NGOs such as The ONE Campaign and Rights & Resources Initiative, but also with companies like Unspeakable Studios, a Youtube channel with 20 Million subscribers. This role involves conceptualizing, planning, filming, shooting, animating photo and video content for Youtube retention but also on policy issues like land rights, climate adaptation, and education.
