Software Engineer – Applications and Data Systems | Work With an Australian Technology Company

The Outsource People (TOP) is looking for an experienced Software Engineer – Applications and Data Systems based in the Philippines to join an Australian technology company’s Product Engineering team.

You’ll develop applications, web interfaces and data services using C++, Python and HTML/JavaScript, while supporting AWS-backed workflows.

This is a Level 2 individual contributor (IC) role within the company’s five-level structure. It requires strong technical capability, ownership of assigned work and demonstrated collaboration with engineering and data science teams. You’ll receive technical direction from the Head of Product Engineering.

We’re looking for finishers: engineers who follow through on delivery and have worked in companies that successfully submitted products to regulatory authorities such as the FDA or equivalent bodies. Experience in the Philippine MedTech sector is preferred.

What you’ll be working on:

• Developing and debugging C++/Qt applications and backend components, including device interfaces, recording and data export
• Building web interfaces, reports and API integrations for reviewing recordings, test results and analysis outputs
• Creating Python tools for data processing, file conversion, test automation and repeatable engineering workflows
• Implementing cloud services for data upload, storage, indexing and processing
• Turning scientific analyses into reproducible software pipelines, preserving source data and validating outputs with specialists
• Writing unit and integration tests, reviewing code and contributing to CI, traceable releases and technical documentation
• Owning assigned features, estimating work and communicating blockers early
• Following quality and security controls throughout development and delivery

Technologies you’ll work with:

• C++ and Python
• HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• AWS or comparable cloud platforms
• APIs, files, databases and data processing tools
• Git, Linux and build/CI tools
• Qt/QML — desirable experience

What we’re looking for:

• At least 10 years of relevant software development experience
• Strong technical expertise relevant to the technology stack above
• Strong practical programming skills in C++ or Python, with working knowledge of the other
• Experience delivering maintainable software, debugging complex faults and learning unfamiliar components
• Working experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs and structured data
• Experience with backend or data systems and exposure to cloud services
• Understanding of data integrity, error handling and secure access
• Experience writing unit tests and supporting integration testing
• Experience working in companies that have successfully submitted products to the FDA or other relevant regulatory authorities
• A proven ability to finish assigned work and deliver reliable outcomes
• A high degree of collaboration, including the ability to explain technical decisions clearly and work effectively with engineering and data science specialists
• Excellent written and spoken English and dependable remote working practices
• A degree in software engineering, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

Experience in the Philippine MedTech sector is preferred, particularly experience with regulated software, requirements, traceability and verification. Experience with device software, cloud deployment or scientific analysis workflows is also valued.
